Abstract

G-protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) are a large family of membrane receptors that play a crucial role in cellular signaling and communication. They mediate a wide range of physiological processes by translating extracellular signals into intracellular responses through G-proteins and various downstream signaling pathways. This article provides an overview of the structure and function of GPCRs, the mechanisms of signal transduction they employ, and their role in diverse cellular processes. We also discuss the importance of GPCRs in pharmacology and drug design, highlighting their potential as therapeutic targets for a variety of diseases.
