Abstract
Phytochemicals, the bioactive compounds found in plants, have long been recognized for their potential health benefits. This article explores the role of phytochemicals in disease prevention and health promotion, focusing on their molecular mechanisms, therapeutic effects, and contribution to overall well-being. We discuss the various classes of phytochemicals, including flavonoids, carotenoids, alkaloids, and terpenes, and their involvement in modulating biological pathways that regulate inflammation, oxidative stress, and cellular metabolism. Furthermore, we examine the role of phytochemicals in preventing chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, and diabetes, as well as their potential to enhance immune function and promote healthy aging.
