Abstract

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are a primary contributor to climate change, and reducing these emissions is critical for environmental sustainability. Chemical engineering offers a range of approaches and technologies that can significantly reduce GHG emissions in various industries, including energy production, manufacturing, and transportation. This article explores the role of chemical engineers in the development of carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies, energy-efficient processes, alternative fuels, and renewable energy systems to mitigate GHG emissions. The paper also discusses the challenges and future directions for achieving substantial reductions in GHG emissions through chemical engineering innovations.
