Abstract

Sustainability is a critical focus in chemical engineering, driven by the need to minimize environmental impact, optimize resource utilization, and enhance the efficiency of industrial processes. Design and optimization of chemical processes are essential to achieving these goals. This article explores the principles and methodologies used in the design and optimization of chemical processes with a focus on sustainability. The paper covers process integration, energy optimization, waste minimization, and the role of chemical engineers in implementing sustainable practices in industry. The challenges and opportunities associated with incorporating sustainability into chemical process design are also discussed.
