Abstract

Membrane technologies have become essential in chemical and biochemical engineering due to their efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and versatility in separation processes. Recent advancements in membrane materials, design, and processes have significantly improved their performance in various applications, including water treatment, gas separation, and bio separation. This article reviews recent developments in membrane technologies, including the design and fabrication of novel membranes, improvements in membrane fouling resistance, and their application in emerging fields like green chemistry and sustainable bioengineering. The paper also discusses challenges in scaling up membrane processes and future directions for enhancing membrane technology in chemical and biochemical engineering.
