Abstract

The rapid evolution of embedded systems has significantly transformed the energy sector by enabling smart, efficient, and adaptive energy solutions. Advanced embedded systems now form the backbone of intelligent energy grids, home automation systems, and decentralized renewable energy infrastructures. This article explores the integration of embedded technologies in smart energy systems, highlighting their role in real-time monitoring, control, and optimization of energy consumption and generation. The discussion focuses on the hardware-software co-design aspects, communication protocols, and power-aware computation in embedded platforms. Two main applications—smart metering and demand response systems—are analyzed in detail. The article concludes by identifying challenges and future directions in designing embedded architectures for sustainable energy management.
