Abstract
Supercapacitors are promising candidates for energy storage devices due to their ability to provide high power densities, fast charge/discharge rates, and long cycle life. However, to enhance their overall performance, the use of nanostructures has become a focal point in recent research. Nanostructured materials, due to their unique surface properties and high surface-to-volume ratios, significantly improve the electrochemical properties of supercapacitors. This article reviews recent advancements in the incorporation of nanostructures, including carbon-based materials, metal oxides, and conductive polymers, in supercapacitors. The paper also discusses the impact of these nanomaterials on key performance metrics such as energy density, power density, cycle life, and charge/discharge efficiency.
