Abstract

Industrial automation is increasingly relying on advanced control systems for improving productivity, safety, and operational efficiency. One key enabler of these systems is the development of smart sensors, which play a critical role in providing real-time data to facilitate autonomous control. These sensors, equipped with advanced features like data processing, self-calibration, and communication capabilities, allow control systems to make informed decisions without human intervention. This paper explores the role of smart sensors in autonomous control systems for industrial automation, highlighting their applications, technologies, and integration challenges. We focus on how smart sensors enhance the reliability, accuracy, and efficiency of control systems in various industrial environments, such as manufacturing, logistics, and process industries. The paper also discusses the future trends and innovations in smart sensor technologies, including machine learning integration and the Internet of Things (IoT), which are expected to further transform industrial automation.
