Abstract
The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) marks a pivotal transformation in industrial automation through the integration of advanced control systems, cyber-physical systems (CPS), artificial intelligence (AI), and IoT technologies. This article discusses the evolving design considerations for control systems in the context of Industry 4.0, highlighting the importance of real-time data processing, advanced communication protocols, and adaptive control strategies. We explore the role of big data, cloud computing, and machine learning in enhancing the performance, flexibility, and scalability of industrial automation systems. Case studies from smart manufacturing, energy management, and automated robotics demonstrate the practical applications of these innovations. Finally, the article outlines challenges and future directions in control system design to fully realize the potential of Industry 4.0.
