Abstract

Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), encompassing Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, is a chronic condition characterized by inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. Pharmacological treatment plays a crucial role in managing IBD by reducing inflammation, inducing and maintaining remission, and improving quality of life. This article explores the major classes of drugs used in the treatment of IBD, including aminosalicylates, corticosteroids, immunomodulators, and biologics. It also discusses emerging therapies, challenges in treatment personalization, and future directions in pharmacological research aimed at optimizing IBD management.
